Soon to be "World Traveler"

Posted by Teresa Ulrich on 5:25 PM in , ,
Greetings! This shall be post one in a series in which I will journal about my upcoming travels.

In just a few short weeks, I will board take a 23-hour flight to Bangkok, Thailand. While I am there, I will teach in the Department of Music at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University. Later I will provide more specific details of my assignment.

I am a fresh college graduate, with a Bachelor's of Music Education from Indiana State University. I specialized in choral and general music, and my license will allow me to teach K-12. I won't go into a huge soliloquy about myself here. Hopefully, you will get to know me through my blog. In addition to the written word, I want to make videos of my time overseas.

One thing I will tell you is that I love choral music. When you get down the nitty gritty and make music together, magic happens. When my mind is tense, I listen to a few of my favorite choral music albums, and the world is made right again.

My current favorite albums are:

  • Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing - Mormon Tabernacle Choir

  • Morten Lauridsen: O Magnum Mysterium, O Nata Lux, Madrigali, Mid-Winter Songs - Noel Edison: Elora Festival Singers

  • Lauridsen: Nocturnes - Polyphony and Stephen Layton

  • Whitacre: Cloudburst - Stephen Layton & Polyphony

  • Gretchaniniov: Passion Week - Charles Bruffy; Pheonix Bach Chorale, Kansas City Chorale

  • Part: Berliner Messe, Magnificat, Summa- Jurgen Petrenko; Noel Edison: Elora Festival Orchestra & Singers
